Old World Media Imposes New World Order on Blogger

The Tulsa World newspaper and online news service has demanded that Michael Bates, BatesLine.com, cease and desist in his use of hyperlinks to World articles --because this infringed on the World’s copyright and exclusive use and distribution of such materials.

Such bullshit. There is a precedent in place saying that the doctrine of implied public use applies to hyperlinking, although netiquette dictates that you _should_ take a link down if someone objects.

A California judge dismissed a claim just like World's, though I don't know precisely when.

They can object all they want, but there is no legal grounds for their claim of copyright infringement.
