Gays Held in Christian "Concentration" Camps

by Pracuel, LiveJournal

Meet Bryan. While You're Enjoying Your Summer, He's Being Sent To A Conservative Christian "Concentration" Camp Where They Make Gay Kids 'Normal' Again.

In the a sleepy suburb of Memphis, Tennessee one of many Christian Concentration camps has attracted public attention and outrage. It seems that young man Bryan, who is 16, decided that he would tell his parents he was gay.

Bad idea- his parents are fundamentalist Baptists and they knew just what to do. Bryan has been shipped off to camp to be "straightened out". Right from the start you can see that these people, at this camp, are sick..very sick and dangerous people...

Here is a statement from FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LOVE IN ACTION, John Smid, who operates THE REFUGE,the camp in which Bryan has been forced to attend. The Love In Action website describes the camp as "an intensive program designed to minister to adolescents struggling with broken and addictive behaviors, such as promiscuity, alcohol & drug addiction and homosexuality".

"I would rather you commit suicide than have you leave Love In Action wanting to return to the gay lifestyle. In a physical death you could still have a spiritual resurrection; whereas, returning to homosexuality you are yielding yourself to a spiritual death from which there is no recovery."

GO BACK...read that again..."I would rather you commit suicide..." Again these are the people the Bush crime family supports and panders to. Doesn't this turn your stomach?...

While Bryan does have a MYSPACE account I am not going to publish the address here, I will, however, show you a bit of what he has said, in his own words, so you can see the struggle parents and "fixed" gays impose on good kids that just want to love who they want and be who they are:
"Well today, my mother, father, and I had a very long "talk" in my room where they let me know I am to apply for a fundamentalist christian program for gays. They tell me that there is something psychologically wrong with me, and they "raised me wrong." I'm a big screw up to them, who isn't on the path God wants me to be on. So I'm sitting here in tears, joing the rest of those kids who complain about their parents on blogs - and I can't help it."
Now the good news....

There has been a protest at the camp and that protest is gaining wider support. Daily updates on this continuing story on morgankissboys.
day eight protest
Alot of people turned up today to demonstrate infront of Love In Action. Very polite police officers arrived around 9:00am and joked around with us. They left. Around 10:00AM the media begins to flood the action and we get high energy, chanting "this is what love in action looks like". They start instantly grabbing everyone for interviews, and we hand them QAC press packets including handouts from organizations like the APA, and a history of EX-GAY organizations.

This is absolutely horrible. I guess the whacko gets a lot of faith based initiative funding.

You may want to go to this blog and contact the author, Jane Stillwater. Her email address is at the bottom of the blog. She has spent considerable time trying to "rescue" a kid whose parents have slammed him into one concentration camp after another. Her experiences in trying to spring the child from his recent camp and in dealing with the parents are chilling. http://jpstillwater.blogspot.com/

I find it sad that it's the supposed "pro-life" crowd that participate in this awful attempt to "pray the gay away".

If every life truly has value, how could they treat anyone like this?

I have a question for these "pro-life" folks: If there was a genetic test that proved an unborn baby would be gay, would it be okay for the mother to get an abortion? After all, if it's better to commit suicide than to love someone of the same sex, this would be the logical conclusion.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with love. Whether it be same sex or not. I was locked up in a program for "troubled teens"...... these programs need to be shut down immediately!!! You kid WILL come out of that program with so many mental problems. Someone needs to draw a line, and needs to do it quick!
