Mainstream Downplays Growing Blog Readership

Despite the ever-increasing popularity of blogs, the latest Editor & Publisher article takes a reassuringly downbeat view of trends:

"There’s no question that blog popularity is spreading by leaps and bounds. But as of late February, when this poll was conducted, only 3% of Americans said they read blogs every day. Fewer than one in six, 15%, read blogs at least a few times a month."

Oh well, then. Blogs have come out of nowhere to take 15% of the market, but there's nothing to worry about.

Buried in the stats:
Around 2.5% of Americans are hardcore political blog readers,
and blogs are read more by the young and the liberal.
